Centrs Dardedze is an independent non-governmental organization. Its aim is to protect children from abuse within the family, at school, online and in society in general. Its main activities are focused on preventive work with children, parents, teachers and other persons involved in the lives of children, as well as providing psychological support to children suffering from abuse, and their families.
How can it help you
Psychological help
Centrs Dardedze provides consultations with a psychologist for a family if a child has been neglected, physically, sexually or emotionally abused or if advice on parental issues is required.
Assistance for children in criminal proceedings
Centrs Dardedze can assist investigative authorities where a child is involved in criminal proceedings as a victim or witness, to ensure that the child's interests are observed. Specialists are available to examine a child for evidence of any violence and report on this. The centre has specially equipped rooms for the interrogation of children and also provides legal advice if necessary.
Educational activities for children
Centrs Dardedze provides the Dzimba Safety Programme - a child focused programme for reducing child victimization by giving positive, comprehensive and effective guidelines on personal safety and promoting the disclosure of abuse. The organization also prepares Dzimba agents – pre-school and primary school teachers, who become safety trainers and carry out the programme in their work places.
The Courage to be Friendly Programme for grade 5-9 students is being implemented to fight peer abuse and bullying. The programme is based on a play performed in classrooms through which students can identify themselves either as an abuser, or a victim, thus directly encouraging an analysis of their behaviour in similar situations with the aim of encouraging mutual friendship, tolerance and respect.
Courses for parents
Parents can participate in courses and support groups organized by Centrs Dardedze to learn about topics related to child development, safety and other aspects relating to family life. For example, a parent of a child up to 7 years of age may take a course about the emotional development of a child called Pathways to competence. Courses and support groups are also organized for fathers, parents of teenagers and parents of small children who are under the supervision of the Social Department.
Courses for specialists
Centrs Dardedze provides various training programmes for updating the professional capacity of specialists (psychologists, teachers, social workers, doctors, lawyers, prosecutors, police officers etc.) on the issues of child abuse and neglect. The topics include: basic principles of children's rights, therapeutic methods for helping children suffering from abuse, safety course for pre-school children, mobbing prevention, teenage sexting risks etc.
