Conditions

Natural light, fresh air, an appropriate temperature and an adequate sized cell are essential for your ability to lead a normal life in prison. Therefore, it is important that your cell is appropriate for the amount of time you spend in it.

A lack of those basic conditions may lead to a deterioration of both your mental and physical health. This in turn may lead to a violation of the prohibition against inhuman or degrading treatment.

About this section

In this section, you can read more about the minimum requirements of light, fresh air, temperature and cell space.
